Dennis and Phyllis Washington Foundation Native American Graduate Fellowship

Required Qualifications:

  • Accepted to a Master’s or Doctoral degree at Montana State University;
  • Maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA;
  • Earned a baccalaureate degree from a four-year regionally accredited institution of higher learning anywhere in the U.S. and have graduated with at least a 2.5 undergraduate cumulative GPA;
  • Montana resident;
  • American Indian who is an enrolled member of a State of Montana recognized tribe.
  • US citizen;
  • Full-time student.

Additional Award Information:

  • Upon receipt of the Fellowship, the student will receive one (1) year of funding.
  • The student will be allowed to reapply and may be selected to receive a maximum of one (1) additional year for a master’s program or two (2) years of funding for a PhD program (provided the recipient remains eligible, i.e. maintains a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA).
  • Preference will be given to applicants who have provided a letter of support from the department in which they are enrolled as a graduate student, indicating that said department will provide them with a GRA or GTA stipend.
