Required Qualifications:
- Pursing a degree from the Department of Ecology;
- Graduate student;
- Pursuing research that is related to the field of Conservation Biology.
Preferred Qualification:
- Student showing heart, enthusiasm and/or experience in water resources and/or wildland firefighting.

Submit a 1-2 page essay describing how your research relates to conservation biology, and if applicable, water resources and/or wildland firefighting.
Mary and Jerry Madsen established this scholarship fund in loving memory of their daughter, Sara Amasa Madsen, who graduated from Montana State University in 2019 with a degree in Biology with an option in Conservation Biology and Ecology. Sara was extraordinary, kind, and independent. Mary and Jerry established this scholarship to support students that share Sara’s heart and enthusiasm for the wilderness, particularly wildland firefighting and water resources.
